In two weeks time I will be returning to Egypt after a five year absence. My last visit was in February 2020, six months after I had undertaken a stem cell transplant. It was the most wonderful trip and I had an amazing time. On my first day I was being winched down a tomb shaft in Saqqara!
I travelled alone, it was something I needed to do to rebalance myself after a year of hospital treatments. Little did I know that I wouldn’t be returning for such a long time. Within a week of me returning home Covid 19 lock down happened in the UK.
Three years later I booked my trip. I was being accompanied by a friend, who hadn’t been to Egypt for a long time. Unfortunately, ten days before we were due to leave on our travels my husband became very ill and I had to cancel the trip. The following year, 2024, I couldn’t even plan a trip because he was still very unwell.
So, here we are in 2025 and I am getting ready to go back to the place where my heart lives!
The itinerary is very full, but not taxing. This time I am being accompanied by a dear friend who thinks this may be her last trip due With that in mind I have planned what I hope will be a memorable adventure!
